London's Matt Maltese is a classic songwriter who has never been afraid to show his true colours through his mesmerising, fragile songs, often rooted in vocal and piano. After recording his debut album Bad Contestant with Foxygen's Jonathon Rado back in 2018, he's decided to go down the self-produced route for his stunning second album Krystal. Recently, Matt has been uploading instrumental piano pieces titled 'Day 23', 'Day 30', and yesterday, 'Day 39'. 'Day 39' sees bass chords in the left hand wistfully go from major to minor, whilst the right hand plays a twinkly lead that will fill your skin with goosebumps, making your ears grateful to have witnessed such a thing of beauty. -Ellie Rose-Davies
